Digestive System Blog Post

Hi there, today I will be telling you what I have researched about the organs that we have in our body.

Oesophagus- the oesophagus connects to your mouth and then to your stomach. When you swallow food the oesophagus squeeze them together and it moves the food down to your  oesophagus then to your stomach.

Stomach- the stomach is an aid to digestion and it also changes in diet. it is also where some of your organs are and where your food goes.

Small Intestine- the small intestine is absorbing almost all of the nutrients you get from food into your bloodstream.

Liver- the liver chemical levels in the blood and excretes a product called bile. This helps carry away the waste products that you have eaten from your liver.

Large Intestine- The purpose of the large intestine it to absorb the water and the salt from the material that hasn't been digested as a food.

Exploring language

Hi there, today I will be talking about what we did in ESOL.

The first thing we did was we played hot potato but it was slightly different.

We played it in an English way like we played it creating a story but we only have to write 1 word

and pass it to the person next to you and they will write one word for that story to make sense and

it will keep going until the time is up. The purpose of the game is to try and make a story that

makes sense and if it doesn't make sense you underline the sentence that you and your group

have made and at the bottom you have to try and make it sense.

The next thing we did was we have to make another story again in an alphabetical order then you

have to try and make your story sense and sensible which is really hard because we have to do it

in all in alphabetical order but we tried our best for our story to make sense😂. but it was real fun.

ESOL

Hi there, today I will be telling what is one thing that is fun in ESOL for me and one fun thing that can make this class more fun.

The one thing that makes ESOL fun is doing some quizzes like about spelling because for me it's an easy game but not when it comes to some harder ones but we do try our best to spell it by how the word sounds.

The other one thing that can make ESOL fun for me is doing more spelling quizzes even though some of the words are quite hard to spell, but for me it is really fun to do even more spelling quizzes because it makes me feel alot more comfortable.

Kaiapohia Pa

Hi there, today I will be blogging about the siege of Kaiapohia Pa.

When did Maori establish Kaiapohia Pa?They established it in 1700 and was also built in the 1700 by Turakahutahi of the remaining Waitahstronghold. Like the Huriawa and Mapoutahi, was said to be built on a peninsula of the landaccessed by the narrow neck. On all other sides it was surrounded by the lagoon and the swamp.

Who was involved in the siege?Te Rauparaha was involved in the siege. In 1831 the Kaiapoi pa was attacked byTe Rauparaha and his northern flowers. Many people were killed as they all fled from the pasite through the surrounding swamplands. This attack was at the beginning of a dark time forNgai tahu with the loss of many people in a number of the further bloody battles.

Who was Te Rauparaha? Te Rauparaha was a Maori rangatira known as chief and a war leader of the Ngati toa tribe who took a leading part in the Musket of wars. He was the influential of the original sale of land to the New Zealand company, and was a participant in Wairau Affray in Marlborough.

What was Te Rauparaha feared from? Te Rauparaha soon became alarmed at the flood of the British settlers and refuse to sell any more of his land. This quickly led to a tension and the upshot was the Wairau Affray when a party from Nelson tried to arrest Te Rauparaha, and 22 of them were killed when they got fired upon Te Rauparaha and his people out of fear.

Where was Te Rauparaha from?

He was from Kawhia Harbour.

What is pa?

Pa means a village or defensive settlement, but often refers to the hillforts.

Athletics 2021

Hi everyone today I will be talking about what we did in P.E and Athletics day as well.

Term 1 Athletics Blog post

Athletics even that I have learnt this term.

I have learnt how to do High jump so that next time when I do High jump I will know what to do so that I can make the jump next time. I have also learnt how to do shot put by following the steps so that I can throw the ball quite far, and I just need to practice more of throwing the ball much more far so I can get a higher score. I learnt how to throw a discus by making my hand quite flat on the discus so that I can throw it on the direction I want it to be, I also learnt how to swing the discus quite far by just swinging the discus quite more before throwing. I learnt how to be a little bit more faster on the 100m sprint by just focusing the lane and pushing myself a little more to be quite faster. I also did long jump and I learned how to jump quite high that I made it quite far on the sand pit, I just need to run a little bit more faster so that I can jump a lot more far on the sand pit. The last thing we did was the relay we practiced our running skills and we were holding a metal thing and we will try to past it to our partner so that we can win, I need a little more practice on my running skills so that I can run much more faster.

List one technique helpful for each event.

To focus more on what you are on so that when you run it will be much more easier for you to jump and you can make it, but you just need to also follow the steps of what the person is showing you so you can be a little bit more confident on jumping.

Practice running so that you can be a little bit more faster then there is a chance for you to be a little bit more faster because of the practice that you have been doing.

When you are holding the ball and the discus make sure that you are aiming it where you want it to be so that no one can get hit and you just need to lean back a little bit more so that you can push quite more harder and you can throw a lot far.

List your results for these events in PE or on athletics day.

Long jump: 3.1m

High Jump: 1m

Discus: 7.63

Shot put: 3.55

100m sprint: 23sec

Did you bring your P.E gear each session?

I brought my P.E each session because It's easier to do the sports that we are doing, and it was important to bring our P.E gear so that your uniform wouldn't get dirty.

Did you participate each week?

I participated in each week because I wanted to see how I will go in the sports that I'm doing. I also wanted to try the sport because it looked quite fun so that next time I will know what to do if we are doing that sport again.

What did I enjoy about the school athletics day.

I enjoyed watching the people do different types of sport. I also enjoyed doing the High jump even do I failed and I also enjoyed watching the relay because it was really fun to watch.

Athletics day

Hi everyone today I will be telling you what happened in Athletics day and what did I do.

We had to wear the color of our Kahui and the Kahui colors are Mohua-Yellow, Riroriro-Blue and Tieke is Red. Each of us has to do a sport atleast so that we can earn house points for our Kahui. I am in Mohua which means I have to wear the color yellow so that its easy for them to know which Kahui am I in. When it was after morning tea we have to meet at the basketball court but only the Mohua people have to meet there and the rest of the other Kahui's have to go somewhere else.

We started to say our lines about mohua and it was (Mohua who are we? = MOHUA, We can't hear you, who are we? = MOHUA tahi rua toru fa we are the warriors of Mohua = TAHI RUA TORU WHA WE ARE THE WARRIORS OF MOHUA) and after that the year 7/8's went together at the gym and the year 9's went at the front of Riroriro. We started to do sport and the first thing we did was High jump, second was Discus and third was 60m run. I only did the High jump because my leg started to get hurt after, so what I did the whole day is walk around and watch.

The competitive people had to go early because they chose competitive and they have to do ever sport that it says on their timetable. Some of them also did the Relay at almost end of the school. There were a lot of sports there and there were quite a lot of food also. We have breaks after about an hour doing sports and after we finish all of the sports we can wonder around and watch people but we can't go to the part where the people are running at later on.

The social people did theirs somewhere at 11 and we only did like 3-4 sports and after that we were aloud to go and have a break and we can just wonder around after as well. Each of us had to do a sport atleast so we can get a house point for our Kahui.

The relay was about to start and we all have to sit in our Kahui and we have to get of the track where people are doing the relay which is the people who is running. After that when everyone is set up the people who are racing started and everyone was cheering for their Kahui and the winner was Riroriro!!
